Getting In
- Front door keypad: Enter the last 4 digits of the phone number you booked with, then press the checkmark button
- No physical key needed — the keypad will unlock the door automatically
- If you have any trouble, text or call us at (989) 220-3797
First time in?
The keypad may take a second to respond. Enter your code slowly and press the checkmark. The lock will beep and the handle will release.
Fireplace & Fire Pit
Fireplace
- Open the flue damper by releasing the chain and reconnecting just above the spring handle
- Use one or two starter squares on the bottom with 4–5 logs to start a fire
- Burn a piece of paper on top of the logs first to heat the chimney
- Keep doors closed while fire is burning — doors and handles will be HOT
- Do not close the flue until 12 hours after a fire
- You may use the living room fireplace only — please do not use the fireplace in the game room
Firewood
The first 10 logs are complimentary. Additional logs are $1 each — there is a Venmo QR code next to the fireplace and the wood rack downstairs.
Fire Pit
- Use twigs, paper, or cardboard on the bottom with 4–5 logs
- Remove old ashes with the shovel to the small metal trash can
- Have the hose ready for any fire outside the pit
- The rocks around the fire pit will get very hot
Local Tips
Inn the Woods
Right inside the Michaywe Clubhouse — lunch and dinner, no need to drive into town. Convenient especially if you’re already at the pool.
Black Bear Golf Course
One of Gaylord’s best public courses — worth a round if you play golf. Close to the property.
Patriot Pontoon Rentals
Rent a pontoon on Otsego Lake for a day out on the water. Great for groups — book in advance during summer weekends.
Taxi 45
Local taxi service for the Gaylord area. Great if you’re heading downtown for drinks. Call ahead — they don’t always run late night without a reservation.
Tips & Hidden Gems
- Air fryer — it’s stored in the closet near the kitchen. Pull it out and plug it in — it’s one of the most-used items at the house!
- Extra chairs — additional outdoor chairs are stored under the deck if you need more seating for the fire pit or patio area
- Hammock — folded up in the mudroom. There are two trees in the yard that are perfect for it — go enjoy it!
- Game room fireplace — please do not use the fireplace in the game room, only the living room fireplace is approved for guest use
- Firewood — first 10 logs are complimentary; additional logs are $1 each via the Venmo QR code by the fireplace
Michaywe Clubhouse & Pool
As our guest, you have full access to all amenities at the Michaywe Clubhouse — it’s one of the best perks of staying here! Here’s everything you need to know:
What’s Available
- Outdoor pool — open Memorial Day through Labor Day (late May – early September). Perfect for summer days — bring sunscreen and towels!
- Indoor pool & hot tub — open Labor Day through Memorial Day (early September – late May). Great for year-round relaxation regardless of the weather outside.
- Sauna — open year round. Dry heat sauna available to all guests.
- Playground & picnic area — great for kids and family time outdoors.
- Inn the Woods Restaurant — right inside the clubhouse on your right as you enter. Lunch and dinner available — a convenient option when you don’t want to drive into town.
Keycard Required — Don’t Forget It!
The keycard is located on the hooks in the mudroom. You must bring this to enter the pool facilities — they will not let you in without it. Please keep track of it throughout your stay. Losing the keycard may result in a $100 replacement fee. If you’re heading to the pool, grab it before you leave the house!
Getting There
- Address: 1535 Opal Lake Rd, Gaylord, MI 49735 — Get Directions
- It’s a short drive from the property — plug the address into your GPS for the easiest route
- Enter through the main front doors
- The restaurant (Inn the Woods) will be immediately on your right
- Continue straight down the hall — locker rooms and pool are at the end on your left
- Scan your keycard at the pool entrance door

- Maximum occupancy: 14 guests
- No smoking inside the property
- No pets inside the property
- Quiet hours: 10 PM – 7 AM — please be respectful of neighbors during these hours
- Please be considerate of neighbors at all times
- No parties or events without prior approval
- Treat the home as you would your own
Check-out Instructions
We want you to feel at home — treat ours like you would treat yours. Tidy up and lock the doors.
Please complete by 11:00 AM:
- Close and lock all windows and doors
- Please do not strip beds — just leave linens in place
- Notify your host when you have checked out
- Safe travels — we hope to see you again soon!
